Since 2003, Capcis has been successfully supporting a North Sea operator to assess and improve the condition of and to predict the life of corrosion protection equipment on its North Sea assets.

It was recognised that the cathodic protection systems were coming to the end of their design lives and that the CP replacement costs for a platform would be significant. Assessing the condition of the systems provides a forewarning of possible future work, allowing future budgets to be set with confidence. The services that CAPCIS can offer include:

Use of modelling processes which allows for a better understanding of the performance of the existing protection system, and can provide assurance that retrofit CP designs are effective but not over designed.
