Data Management Solutions for Asset Integrity

To assist in efficiently managing asset integrity, a centralised data management system that combines data relevant to material degradation and fitness for purpose across process, operations, production chemistry and maintenance is required.

The vast quantity of data that can be interrogated to assist in managing asset integrity can fall under a number of 'generic database types' or be a combination of these types:

  • Inspection databases
  • Corrosion Monitoring databases
  • Tracking tools

For New Assets integrity management systems need to be operational from day 1 of production and as such they should be set up during the design and construction phase of the oil and gas facility.

Managing integrity on ageing assets becomes increasing complex as equipment and piping that is no longer fit for purpose is replaced and modifications to the existing facilities are made to enhance operability of a system.

CAPCIS work with the client through Gap analysis audits or discussion to understand data management requirements and define the most suitable solution for the Integrity needs, the company and the operating environment.

This involves specifying, configuring and populating commercially available systems as well as developing bespoke solutions based around the in house CAPCIS Corrosion Risk Assessment Methodology (CORAM). For process pipework this is typically embedded in standard office database application to allow ease of use within existing IT operating systems. For pipelines, the uncertainty in data requires Degradation models to be developed using propriety statistical packages in conjunction with standard office software
