CONCERTO: DOWNHOLE
With more than 70% of the world's production coming from fields, which are
greater than 30 years old, asset integrity is becoming of increasing
importance within today's oil and gas industry. Accurate asset condition
assessment and corrosion protection and prevention are key objectives in
determining and maintaining asset integrity. However, both of these tasks
are challenging in the downhole environment, where exact conditions and
corrosion inhibitor performances are difficult to ascertain.
Capcis' downhole corrosion monitoring tool can be deployed via wireline
to give a real time indication of:
- the downhole general corrosion rate
- the process parameters which have the most significant effect on the corrosion activity
- whether the activity is general or localised
The data produced by the CAPCIS downhole corrosion
monitoring tool, is unlike any other tool used in the
industry. It not only assesses the tubing condition
in an instant, but it supplies a rate of general corrosion
which can be used for remaining life calculations and be
compared with the general corrosion rate, resulting
when the downhole condition is changed (for example,
in the presence of an inhibitor or at a different depth
and temperature in the well). This enables that the
suitability of an inhibitor or the optimum inhibitor
concentration to be determined downhole.
As market leading suppliers of electrochemical noise
monitoring equipment, CAPCIS has endeavoured to bring
this technology to the oil and gas industry by creating
a wireline deployed tool, with a simple PC based interface.
The data viewer is designed to aid rapid decision making
and the data is output in a user friendly format.
