CONCERTO: OIL & GAS
The application of Concerto products to the oil and gas industry offers the ability to upgrade the standard measurements available from routine instruments with a plug compatible product that works with all standard lpr probes. The systems are used as part of chemical and inhibitor management processes with the measurements providing confirmation of the inhibitor performance and highlighting excursions outside the normal operating environment.
The enhanced lpr measurement function and high performance electrochemical noise measurement provide additional real time information on the corrosion process that enhances the operational knowledge and allows operational control. The use of noise measurements provides rapid detection of localised corrosion effects, such as pitting, crevice attack, and stress cracking in a way that cannot be achieved with conventional lpr and with a response time that significantly exceeds that offered by high-resolution electrical resistance systems. When applied to sour gas lines the Concerto systems can allow the detection of wet gas and slug flow conditions and demonstrate the corrosion impact of these.
The instrument systems are designed to provide operations staff with
real time knowledge of the corrosion of their pipelines
and systems through integration into DCS systems. The
instrument firmware incorporates the CAPCIS VT technology
– ‘corrosion as a process parameter’
– that analyses the corrosion measurement and provides
simple to apply alert and alarm conditions on a ‘traffic
light’ type basis. The instruments can be tuned
to match the particular environment and operating conditions
and ensure against false alert and alarm conditions.
